Cupping is a therapy where localized suction is applied to the skin to mobilize blood flow and to promote healing. Suction is typically created by heat or mechanical pneumatic devices.
Does Cupping hurt?
As with all of the therapies used at Quiet Island Chronic Pain Therapeutic Services, Cupping Therapy is not painful to receive and can actually be quite comfortable and enjoyable.

He is an Honours Graduate of the Shiatsu School of Canada's 2,200 hour Shiatsu Therapy program - the most extensive Shiatsu training offered outside of Japan - and has over 6 years of experience in therapeutic treatments, including Cupping.
WHat is Cupping like?
Cupping Therapy is applied to the bare back, neck or shoulders. Heat is applied inside of the cup and the cup is placed on the skin. The warmth inside of the cup creates the suction which draws the skin into the cup. The result feels like a deep tissue massage.
